William E. Lyons’ photographs are not ink-jet printed; he works in his own darkroom using classic techniques and produces original sliver gelatin prints.  A staff photographer at the Staten Island Advance, Lyons has been exhibiting his photographs for more than 30 years, won many awards, had solo exhibitions at the Butler Institute of American Art, the Hoyt Institute of Fine Art, Westminster College, and the Chester County Art Association, and an exhibition curated by George Hildrew, at Curatorium EB Fine Art Gallery in Hudson, New York.  Lyons received the Gordon Parks Award, has been published in the Best of Photojournalism, and was selected as one of the 75 most influential artists in Chester County along with Andrew, Jamie and N.C. Wyeth. His work has appeared in many publications, notably National Geographic Historical Atlas of the United States, Best of Photojournalism, and Sunrust Magazine. His photograph of clouds over the New York skyline from the ferry received First Prize from the New York Press Club this year. This summer Lyons mounted the exhibition Chasing Shadows Into the Light as guest photographer at CPG Gallery, Staten Island.
